skirt steak and fried italian eggplant

My oven is full of baking cakes so I couldn't make oven roasted red bliss and creamer potatoes like I'd planned. I'm still happy cause fried eggplant is delicious.

Too tired to make another pseudo succotash tonight, so perhaps tomorrow I will see if I can conquer okra and not make it slimy (never cooked it before).

Steak was simple coat in grapeseed oil, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powders with a pat of butter at the end.

eggplant was cut, left to dry in paper towels, corn starched, egg washed then floured and panko'd.

cuisinart hand mixer and kitchenaid blender

Unlike the strawberry huller, this thing gets a looot of use. I only failed to push the beaters all the way in once and they just sort of wiggled their way down into the bowl. Nothing majorly messy.

Absolutely nothing like the time I opened a bbq sauce bottle upside down since there was so little left inside.

That "little" bit ended up all over my walls, my cabinet, my floor, but luckily missed the cat.

As for the blender... I'm still not too fond of polycarbonate. I might get a glass container to replace it with.

do you have a food gadget problem?

I tend to buy things I think I'll get some use out of and some of them still have the packaging attached.

Take this strawberry huller, for instance. At the time I was making something strawberry related twice a week. The minute I bought this thing? Haven't made a one.

do you want to eat your iPhone?

Apparently the japanese have taken fake cutsey food items to a new level.

Not only can you improve the reception on your iPhone over 9,000, but you can also entice people to eat it. Maybe even your pet will give it a go as a chew toy!

Personally, I'm fond of the tonkatsu one. Who doesn't want deep fried electronic devices?

i eat treats, yes I do

My friend Kay came up with this awesome idea. It was something I wish was around when I was in the area.

Besides catering various events, she also delivers treats to the Columbia area in the witching hours from evening till about 3 in the morning.

There is no telling how many times I'd sit at butler and end up with a box of Pimms. Imagine how much wider my waistline would be if I had access to brownies, cupcakes and other decadent creations.

I went to a tasting party of hers months ago and I never quite blogged about it yet.

When I was browsing my flickr page I remembered I used one of them for a moo card.
