knave of hearts sweet potato pie tartlets

...not really, but here's a picture of the sweet potato pie tartlets I took to Blizzcon. This picture was taken right before I threw them out once I got home. Leaving them unrefrigerated for more than 2 days (after which I didn't offer them to anyone) was too much for the little tarts to take.

bonus: home made peanut butter cups

When I went to blizzcon I made two desserts: mini sweet potato pie tartlets and these peanut  butter cups. This is all that's left.

Aaaand I'm back.

Here's a cake I made today. I gave part to my parents and I'm about to bring a piece to the hospital for the nurse that helped my dad a lot these past weeks.

First you get the vanilla batter with a bit of lemon extract and vanilla beans swirled in.

Then you get the chocolate with some scharffen berger bittersweet folded inside

Then you dump em in your pan and cut through it with a knife.

Then you wait for it to bake and take lots of shots of it for no reason. :P

roscoes chicken and waffles - once a year treat for me!

So we normally only go to the west coast once per year for Blizzcon. I made treats, lots of treats, but that's not what this post is about. This post is about some deeeeelicious chicken and waffles.

I always get the smothered chicken (dark meat) with waffles and then I think about it occasionally for the rest of the year till I can have it again.

I know we have chicken and waffles places here. In fact, I know chicken and waffles originated in NYC, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the combination of flavors Roscoes offers.

Their waffles are gently spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg and the gravy is one of the few I will eat.
